Biography

• Jack has over 35 years experience in software design and development. He was one of the first developers of factory automation software for the semiconductor industry, beginning with Fairchild Semiconductor in the 1960's. Jack has been involved with SEMI industry standards since 1979. Jack was personally involved in the development and publication of the SEMI SECS, GEM, HSMS, and 300mm standards, and currently serves as Co-Chairman of the SEMI North America Information and Control Committee. In recognition of his service to the industry and the advancement of SEMI Standards, Jack was chosen by his peers to receive the SEMI Standards Honor Award in 2000, and the Karel Urbanek Award in 2001. In 1975, Jack founded GW Associates, Inc. (Sunnyvale, CA), which became the world's leading supplier of SECS and GEM software. In May 2001, GW Associates was acquired by Asyst Technologies. Since 1984, together with Secrest Research, Jack has presented seminars on SEMI standards throughout the world, and Jack is now continuing this work as an associate of Standards Technology Group.
